I identify with the man pictured in this piece. He's wearing his vulnerabilities on his skin. It's our covering that faces and interacts with the world, yet it often hides what's going on underneath. But not here. His skin is prickly, sensitive, and arbitrary. It flows in the right directions, but otherwise, it's chaotic in texture and color. It swells around his senses of hearing, seeing and smelling, blocking them like a cocoon. He's vulnerable to the world, yet closed off from it!
This image resulted from an experiment I tried. Instead of a 3D sphere, I used the 3D mesh of a human form, and replaced the surface facets with brush strokes. I have used this technique in other pieces, but not in this way. I imagined the painted brush strokes would lay flat on the surface, like a Van Gogh painting. But when I saw them positioned perpendicular to the surface, I liked the effect even more. I think this piece will grow on you, the more you see it!
I guarantee it. Return any print, in the first month, for a no-hassle refund.
